Why level by level

Three reasons a step-by-step curriculum matters.

01

A solid foundation

You move up a level only after the capacity milestone is reached plus trainer feedback that the skill is internalized. No skipped levels that leave you stuck at a mid level with half-internalized skill.

02

Measurable growth

Weekly recording playback plus trainer annotation. Your progress shows in real terms: speech duration you can deliver without freezing, audience size you can handle, and event genres you can MC without hesitation.

03

Curated experienced trainers

Every trainer is experienced and skilled in their field, with a track record of speaking or hosting events. Strict curation, matched to your level.

Our far goal

Confident speaking is the door.

Behind these two tracks, you sharpen the way you read an audience, structure engaging messages, and build the habit of focused public speaking. Speaking as a lifelong career skill, from your first nervous 5-person audience to your first paid event.

FAQ

Questions participants ask about the Retora curriculum

Five common questions about the two tracks and the Fundamental to Signature ladder.

  1. How many tracks does the Retora curriculum have?

Two core tracks: Public Speaking (Fundamental to Signature) for university students, professionals, and aspiring keynote speakers. MC (Fundamental to Signature) for aspiring MCs of wedding events, corporate, awarding, protocol, bilingual, and broadcast. Both tracks share the same ladder levels and the same Confidence-Craft-Command method, only the content focus differs.

  2. How do you move up a level in the Retora ladder?

You move up a level once the capacity milestone (speech duration, audience size, or event genre) is reached plus trainer feedback that the skill is internalized. Progress is tracked through weekly recording playback review plus trainer annotation per session. Each level has its own training focus, drills, and target milestone. Not automatic based on weeks passed.

  3. Are there programs for nervous beginners?

Yes. Fundamental targets nervous beginners, including those who normally feel nervous in front of 5 people. Trainers chosen who regularly teach beginners with a patient, non-judgmental approach. Progressive exposure from 5 to 10 people audience, pre-session 4-4-4 breathing, and mental preparation become the main focus of this level.

  4. When can I switch from Public Speaking to MC or vice versa?

You can switch tracks any time after Structured (speech framework). Basic mental foundation, breathing, and framework speech skills transfer to MC. The Retora team helps map which track fits your goal better, and your trainer notes the skills you have already mastered from the previous track.

  5. Can I talk to someone before committing to a package?

Yes. The free initial consultation is with the Retora team (customer service), not with a trainer. You tell us about your speaking experience and goals, and we recommend a track and starting level before you commit to any package. Your trainer is matched after registration, based on your level, schedule, and learning location.
